Some examples of my work and experience in this discipline are technical problems and labs where the format and outcome, specifically geared towards 3-D parametric or solid creations. Definition: GD & T is an essential tool to communicate the intention of the design, since the pieces of the technical drawings have the desired form, fit, function and exchange capacity. By providing uniformity in the specifications and interpretation of drawings, GD & T reduces conjectures throughout the manufacturing process, improving quality, reducing costs and shortening deliveries.

History   Founded in 1984, LA Fitness was conceived with a corporate goal to purchase and operate struggling fitness clubs. Throughout the 1990s, LA Fitness expanded its brand though acquiring and turning-around existing clubs and through developing and building its own properties. In 1995, LA Fitness constructed a 45,000-square-foot multipurpose facility that would serve as the company’s signature design. By 1998, LA Fitness had 12 similar clubs throughout California and Arizona, sparking the company’s rapid growth.

LA Fitness originated in Pennsylvania in 1984. Since then, it has opened over 200 clubs across the United States. Most LA Fitness clubs offer general fitness, group classes and personal training. The group fitness classes are often new and trendy offerings to keep up with demands of members. Some clubs even feature large indoor pools and juice bars where you can purchase snacks, smoothies and other beverages.The fitness industry encompasses both for-profit and not-for-profit facilities providing activities for the purpose of improving general as well as specific fitness levels. According to First Research, approximately 30,000 facilities operate in the U.S. with estimated annual revenue of $21 billion. Since the 1970s, many changes have brought the industry from the days of the muscle heads to a wider audience. Success is generally based on the right combination of services, demographics, marketing and location.

Culture LA Fitness is a popular health club that offers multiple locations across the country. This health club offers many of the common amenities in traditional gyms, including cardio equipment, large studios and a weight training area. It strives to keep up with trends in the industry, offering new and popular classes along with modern equipment.

The fitness business provides a service based on specific needs. From initial evaluation, through program design and implementation to follow-up, the industry provides supervision, assistance and motivation for individuals of all fitness levels. Instruction on how to exercise is offered in a group or individual basis. Facilities provide space and equipment, with amenities such as locker rooms, spa and pool facilities and sometimes child care. Fitness professionals employed by the facility are expected to be qualified for their position.

In 1990 Fred Turock, Jeremy Taylor and David Turner decided to get together to jointly manage these clubs, with the aim of building up a network of gyms with first class facilities. LA fitness Contracts

– Flexible contracts are available e.g. 1 months, 6 months, 12 months, 24 months
– Members who commit to a longer membership gain the benefit of a more competitive rate
– 85% of new members sign-up at our in-club, digital, interactive kiosks requiring 3 x signatures of our T&Cs
– All members signing up via kiosk receive an instant email directing them to our T&Cs
– All members that sign up either via kiosk, over the telephone or on line have a 10-day cooling-off period
– A Welcome Letter is sent typically within 7 days of joining directing to our FAQs and T&Cs on our website
– As with most initial term contracts (e.g. satellite TV & mobile phones) the direct debit payment rolls over into a month to month and members need to give 30 days’ written notice to terminate the membership
– In all circumstances, our new Member Pledge applies to all members

Two Watchdog researchers signed up to a 6 month membership, one of whom joined through our Kiosk in club where an email would have been sent automatically confirming the pre-agreement and our T&Cs. Both researchers cancelled within 7 days by calling our Member Services team. They exercised their right to cancel within our 10 day cooling off period which was honored as part of our new Member Pledge. All new members receive a Welcome letter which directs them to the FAQs and T&Cs on our website and offers potential Members an opportunity to discuss concerns and indeed change their mind. These are sent typically within 7 days. The other researchers in your programme did not sign up to membership, and therefore would not have been part of our after sale process.

Despite the disappointing experience of the Watchdog researchers more than 50% of our members have been with us for more than 12 months, 35% for more than two years and around 15% for more than five years – our average length of stay for all members is 22months. Around 120,000 people join our clubs each year, so whilst any poor sales experience is regrettable, we accept that mistakes can happen. However, where we are made aware of it, we aim to remedy the situation as soon as possible and address any internal staff failing through re-training or disciplinary procedures as appropriate.



In response to the four specific case studies that the Watchdog programme have sent to us, two of them concerned members who wanted to terminate their contracts because they were moving home to an area not easily commutable to one of our clubs.

Neither of these cases would have happened following the launch of our Member Pledge in which we’ve said that anyone moving 10 miles or more from LA fitness is eligible to cancel their contract on proof of change of address. This distance is ‘rule of thumb’ and again our Member Services team is happy to discuss individual circumstances.

The two further cases you have highlighted to us were dealt with by our member services team once the full facts were revealed to us. We want to confirm that both employees were dismissed for misselling memberships, and we cancelled and closed both membership accounts with all outstanding payments removed. We also contacted our credit management teams to cease all contact, and apologized to the individuals in both matters.



We would like to reiterate that it is important that all new joiners carefully read our terms and conditions when they sign up. In the event that a member does wish to terminate their contract it is vital that they call our member services department 0844 770 7700 or email:member.relations@lafitness.co.uk and discuss their requirements before cancelling any direct debit. Know what makes you happy – It may seem simple, but many of us get so caught up in our tasks that we forget to focus on and enjoy the things that make us happy.

“I have often asked myself ‘what is happiness?’” said Dr. Daneshmand. “Happiness is when I wake up every morning — at least majority of the time (laughs) — excited about my day!”

“There are mind exercises that I speak about to my patients,” said Dr. Daneshmand. “If you are at work, focus on work. When you are at home, focus on your family and nothing else — put down your cell phone and stay away from the computer. When you are exercising, focus on only exercising. When you are with friends, focus on being with your friends. This (mind) exercise allows you to be present and live in the now…By remaining focused you are living in the present but preparing for the future.”

5 Tips to get Your Body Ready for Summertime Swimwear

Summer is less than two months away, and the clock is ticking! If you want to swap out your comfy concealing apparel for more revealing poolside swimwear there is still time to get in shape and look your best!

  1. Set a Realistic Goal – You can’t go from a spare-tire to six-pack in two months… but you can flatten that tire. Remember that weight is only one measurement of many that you can use to recognize your results. Over the next two months aim to drop down a clothing size or two, lose an inch around your waist or drop body fat. Giving yourself more than one way to TRACK YOUR PROGRESS keeps you motivated because you know that you are on the right path and not wasting any precious time.
  2. NO MORE EXCUSES…Start Today! – There is no need to panic…but do not procrastinate for even one more day. Instead of finding any excuse to not workout, do whatever it takes to get into the gym. Don’t worry, even if lately you’ve been on a spring break from exercising, two months is plenty of time to change your physique and tighten things up. The more you have slacked over the past few months the harder you have to work—so get going!
  3. It’s all About the Trifecta…for Fat Loss – To turn your body into the most effective fat-burning machine possible, you have to commit to ALL THREE of the following: weight / resistance training, cardio workouts and healthy eating / drinking habits. For the best results commit to weight / resistance training for at least 20 minutes, three days-a-week. Choose cardio exercises that get you breathing harder and sweating for at least 30 minutes five days-a-week. Make healthy food and drink choices EVERYDAY!
  4. Be more ACTIVE – Examine your day, list all the times that you are inactive and swap them with something active whenever possible. For example, instead of sitting in a cafeteria or restaurant during your lunch hour, take walks or add some extra gym sessions.
